The Scholarly Concentration
The Scholarly Concentration is an extension of our mission to embrace each student's uniqueness. We are all passionate about more than one thing, and the potential inherent in the intersection of those interests has no bounds. In collaboration with their faculty mentors, our students curate their own course of study across disciplines and fields of thought to complement their core curriculum. Their scholarly concentration is a deeper dive filled with rigorous and joyful learning, as students select elective courses and pursue independent research and projects closely related to their unique studies. Learners who follow the lead of their curiosity venture far.
Intellectual Curiosity Driven By Purpose
The Scholarly Concentration is driven by the interests of the learner. Students identify areas that spark their imagination and interest, and incrementally design their Scholarly Concentration throughout Grades 9-12. Each student is at the helm of their program, selecting elective courses, pursuing meaningful independent projects, and exploring extracurricular and summer pursuits that may all contribute to the learning journey. All along the way, they are mentored closely by a faculty advisor. The course of study for each student is as unique as they are, steered by the evolution and growing depth of their own interests over the four years. The Scholarly Concentration concludes in the senior year with a presentation creatively communicated, as well as a written reflection. The Scholarly Concentration is an immersive experience that lasts a lifetime.
