Celebrating the Upper School Opening

When: Saturday, October 19 at 6pm

Where: Slate School, 124 Mansfield Road, North Haven

What: Join us for an evening of delicious food, music, dancing, and a silent auction in a space that has been years in the making! Celebrate our work to revolutionize education for students from Kindergarten through Grade 12.

The celebration includes opportunities to tour the Upper School, meet the visionaries and artisans who brought it to life, hear stories of students who are benefitting from this incredible opportunity, and dance the night away in our spectacular 20,000-square-foot Upper School.

At Slate School, learners experience a reimagined, empowering K-12 education. We nurture and support our students to love learning deeply and exploring widely. Our 40-acre picturesque campus is a laboratory, the classrooms are incubators݀݀݀, and the collaborations and discoveries are limitless. Through collaboration with universities, in workshops, and with educators, Slate School offers tools to schools and educators locally and nationwide to empower their own learners. We are collectively transforming the art and joy of teaching and learning.

Slate School is an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit K-12 school that is interdisciplinary, curiosity-driven, nature-based, project-based, and arts-integrated. Slate School is the only independent school in the country that is need blind and meets 100% of demonstrated financial need for every admitted student. More than 80% of our students receive significant financial aid.

An Evening of Music and Dancing

Join our evening of music and dancing with Ed Fast and CongaBop, an Afro-Cuban inspired rhythms and hard-bop harmony fused to create unique, soulful originals and creatively-arranged jazz standards. Ed Fast has performed with Aretha Franklin and Paul Anka, tours with premier Broadway shows, and occasionally sits in with the Hartford Symphony Orchestra. His music makes every occasion a joyful, toe-tapping celebration.

The Starry Night Gala will be held in conjunction with a widely-publicized Ribbon Cutting on the morning before.
